Meet the owner

Jens Mowatt

Owner · Cinematographer · Photographer

Jens is a freelance videographer, photographer and novelist based in Vancouver, B.C. Over the past five-plus years he has filmed more than 125 weddings, dozens of music videos, interviews, real estate features and corporate events. He has shot multiple documentaries and worked as a camera operator on independent feature films.

A street photographer at heart, Jens lets his personal work inform the client work — and vice versa. That back-and-forth is what keeps the eye sharp and the storytelling honest. On set he is calm, quiet, and relentlessly observant. In the edit, he is a builder — cutting for feeling before flash.

Away from the camera he writes science-fiction novels. Worlds, characters, arcs — the same instincts that shape a wedding film or a brand spot. In the long run, Priority Film Productions is a runway toward narrative filmmaking. In the meantime, client work is where the craft is sharpened.

"I want to film your event or your project to the best of my ability, and create a friendly atmosphere along the way. I think filming something should be fun — and I love working with clients that feel the same."

How we work

Four principles behind every frame.

Every project — a $3k elopement or a global brand launch — is measured against the same standard.

01

Story over spectacle

Slow-mo b-roll and drone flyovers age fast. A moment of real emotion — a father's exhale before he walks his daughter down the aisle, a founder searching for the right word — ages like film. We build every project around those moments first.

02

Documentarian's patience

The best frames rarely happen on cue. We shoot enough coverage to let the story reveal itself in the edit, and we're comfortable waiting for the light, the laugh, or the tear that changes the whole cut.

03

Cinema-first craft

Modern digital cinema bodies, fast prime glass, professional audio capture and colour-managed post. The tools don't make the film — but they remove every excuse not to make it well.

04

One point of contact

You talk to the person holding the camera. From first call through final master, there is no account manager between you and the filmmaker responsible for your work.
